I just run into a nice blog post by Nail Martin (''Prototyping : New wine, old skins'') where he shows how to abstract data access with db4o as the underlying persistence engine (Nail is a big fan of repositories and finders, updaters and basically any technique to abstract data access and easily Mock the data layer).

Will ever db4o follows a business model like MySQL? Not to be bought by Sun; but to forge something like LAMP. If not then you are for sure a very worthy commercial product as some others were (Unix?)...

If you take a look in our svn repository you'll see that lots of changes were applied to configuration code (starting with version 7.7). Take it easy, we kept the ''old'' configuration interface in place; we just deprecated it, so update your code to use the new interfaces if you have the chance ;)
